Favignana, the island
Favignana is a beautiful Mediterranean island; the air is filled with perfumes, colours and traditions. It's the largest of the Egadi Islands, the others being Levanzo, Marettimo, Formica and Maraone . It covers an area of 20 Km² and has a coastline perimeter of 33 km. About 3,500 inhabitants live in the town itself.
The island is mainly flat with just one small mountain, Monte Santa Caterina. Favignana has an incomparably beautiful land- and seascape. The sea is blue and crystal clear whilst the coast is prevalently rocky but most of the numerous, sandy beaches are easy to reach, especially the ones on the south coast.
