The most fascinating and exciting excursion that can be made on Mt Etna; climbing the highest active volcano in Europe to enjoy a unique view ranging from the Aeolian Islands, through Messina Channel up to the Gulf of Augusta.
The hiking starts from the arrival point of 4WD vehicles, nowadays at 2900 m. of altitude. You will cross the Piano Crater, go up alongside the western slope of the main crater and arrive just until the edge of Bocca Nuova (the latter crater) at 3240 m. of altitude. You will come down along the same route.
