Summer Workshops in Italy.

Alma Ortolan Studio promotes workshops, a unique program, for those who want to expand their knowledge about traditional painting techniques and conservation, while having a Wonderful Italian Experience.

The Pandora workshops are located in the medieval town of Sorano, in southern Tuscany. The various workshops at Pandora, are inside the imposing Orsini Fortress in Sorano, and are fully equipped for the different activities: ceramics, glass, painting techniques, sculpture, restoring and photography. Pandora organises a variety of courses, mostly in summer, of a duration of one or two weeks: a large part of the courses are designed to widen students knowledge of the applied arts.

La Cantoria is a professional school for becoming a restorer. Teaching is mainly based on practical.

Palazzo Spinelli was founded in September 1976 thanks to an idea of Francesco Amodei, who after a two years experimental course on Ancient Wood, founded the “Istituto per l’Arte e il Restauro” which was in a few years an immediate international success. The founders were Francesco Amodei, Mauro Buffi, Domenico Cancellieri, Giuseppe Furferi. Since then, more than 5500 students have been educated in our laboratories and have spread the strong image of Florence as the “world capital of restoration” in every corner of the planet.

Ravenna is universally acknowledged as the capital of mosaics because it has preserved the richest legacy of ancient mosaics in the world, through which Christianity constructed, for the first time in a fully achieved manner, its own true iconography for representation of its theology and the Bible's message in the universal language of images.Togheter with its monuments, recognised by UNESCO in 1997 as World Heritage, Ravenna's schools and workshops jealously guard the ancient knowledge and inimitable techniques of mosaics - exclusive in the entire world.
