Tropea is one of the most beautiful towns in Calabria lies along the south Tyrrhenian coast.
Austere and majestic, Tropea rises out of the promontory of Monte Poro which lies between the two gulfs of Sant’Eufemia and Gioia.
It overlooks a mirror-like sky-blue, crystal-clear sea, with its incredible rocks: “La Pizzuta”, “Formicoli”, “San Leonardo” and “Isola Bella”.

Wonderful place in Calabria. Great sandy beaches, old town, steep streets, old churches. Tropea is perhaps the most famous destination in all of Calabria. The highlight is the Santa Maria dell'Isola, built on a rock with sea on three sides and a beach on one.

Tropea is perfect for a little Meditteranean sunbathing and sightseeing, if you don’t mind feeling like one of many, many tourists that crowd here during the high season (July-September). Tropea’s touristiness can be part of the fun, as people watching opportunities (especially of bronzed southern Italians and for some reason huge quantities of decidedly-less-bronzed Germans) abound. During the day, the beaches below Tropea’s white cliffs beckon; at night, Tropea’s tiny downtown is a maze of restaurants, bars, and piazze packed with trinkets for tourists (i.e. you) to buy.
